Possibilities of work processing by laser welding
Albert Einstein established the fundamentals of an invention which he couldn't live to see himself: the LASER
Laser welding gained more and more in importance over the past years and it constitutes already an indispensable technology for repairing or changing of highly complex and expensive moulds. The laser allows well directed micro welding on tool steels, aluminium moulds or casting moulds without damaging the structure. As demands on laser processing are increasing steadily it is vital to keep up with improvements in the steel sector and to respond to new alloys as well as to new processing or production methods.
Cycle times for the production of moulds are decreasing ever more and this necessitates on the one hand to react fast and precise and on the other hand to have thorough knowledge about the processing with laserbeamwelding.
The innovation laser welding presents with the pulsed Nd:YAG type laser a number of advantages in comparison to thecommonTIG-welding process: extremely accurate material order on the spot; even of finest structures, no tool distortion, minimal heat affected zone, shrinkage-free welding bead, heat adjustment between 30-60 HRC possible.
Laser welding does not require preheating of the work piece and thus enables also repairing of large scale moulds. Alpha Laser equipments offer highest performance and the latest technical features. The closed, open and mobile welding laser machines can be used in tool and mould making, for thin sheet processing, in medical technology and also in sensor and battery casing production.
